There is always (except for one or two times a year) FREE PARKING directly around the Austin Farmers’ Market(s) at both Saturday’s Republic Square Park (4th and Guadalupe) and Wednesday’s Triangle (46th Street and Lamar) locations! We can take in almost 1,000 cars at one time! Come check it out–we’re bigger and better than ever!

TRAFFIC WATCH - March 6th, 2010:

The Texas Independence Day Parade is this Saturday, March 6. Congress Street is blocked from Congress Avenue Bridge to the Capitol. PLEASE COME TO MARKET and celebrate your farmers’ independence! Just take the following route:

FROM SOUTH: I-35, take Riverside exit, go to Lamar, take a right, to to 5th Street, take a right, go to Guadalupe, take a right, go two blocks and take a right on 3rd Street, and then park in the parking garage or northern 1/2 of the parking lot (free to market goers).

FROM NORTH: I-35, Exit MLK or 15th Street, go east (right) until Guadalupe, then turn left. Go several blocks then take a right on 3rd Street, and then park in the parking garage or northern 1/2 of the parking lot (free to market goers).

FROM WEST: You are all clear, coming in on 5th Street.

General rule of thumb for avoiding traffic or street closures coming to market (if you haven’t checked this post weekly):

From I-35 traveling to the west to get to the market: Go to MLK exit, take MLK to go westbound. Go all the way to (almost) Guadalupe, but turn in the slight branch-off of the street to your left to access Guadalupe. Continue down Guadalupe to 4th and 3rd Streets to get into your favorite parking spaces (including the free 700-space State Parking Garage at 3rd and San Antonio).

From from Mopac (Hwy 1) traveling to the east: Take Cesar Chavez/5th Street exit. Take 5th Street just several blocks to Guadalupe, and turn right. Go to Third Street, and turn right again. Find one of your favorite parking spaces next to the market, in the LAZ parking lot (top 1/2 only!) or in the free 700-space State Parking Garage at 3rd and San Antonio.
