Elizabeth McQueen and the Firebrands
Elizabeth McQueen and the Firebrands isn't your typical Americana band. Leading With a voice that has been compared to both Patsy Cline and Dinah Washington, McQueen sings her way through a mix of music that has as much to do with the straight ahead honky-tonk of Ernest Tubb as it does with the quirky roots rock of Rockpile. Come hear it at from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Market.
McQueen's vocals are anchored by the outstanding musicianship of the Firebrands. Guitarists Andrew Nafziger (Bruce Robison) and Chris Miller (Marcia Ball, Hollisters) along with bassist Lindsay Greene and drummer Brian Smith shine with a mix of stunning creativity and solid technique. Along for the ride are Casper Rawls on guitar (Toni Price, the Leroi Brothers), Jim Murphy on steel (Asleep at the Wheel, Johnny Paycheck) and John Michael Whitby keyboards (Asleep at the Wheel). You'll get peachy keen on your peaches at the Market and the tunes of Elizabeth McQueen. Look for her cd, The Fresh Up Club, for sale Saturday and more info is at http://www.elizabethmcqueen.com
