Welcome back and also a hello/howdy to these folks, coming 12/3: River's End with tropicals like star fruit, Ottmers Farm (with his new batch of broccoli!), Garza Greens fresh cut herbs, Ruth Meaders and her Usable Art, and Texas Medicinals. Many farm families took off for the Thanksgiving holidays last week, but the regular contigent of about 50 vendors will be there for you this weekend at 4th and Guadalupe.

Not Here 12/3: Sticky Toffee Pudding is out the rest of the winter to concentrate on holiday orders all over the country! Jenny's Cactus Lace (back Dec. 10); Monkey's Lunchbox; and Veldhuizen Family Farm (cow milk cheeses) until later in the season.

WEDNESDAY MARKET--OPEN IN DECEMBER! At Plaza Saltillo, Wednesdays, 4 - 6:30 p.m., easy free parking just east of I-35 at 5th and Comal.

NOW IN SEASON
Vegetables: Tomatoes are in piles again! Enjoy the ones from Naegelin Farm, Bat Creek Farm, and Finca Pura Vida. Kevin Ottmers has his first broccoli for the season. Salad greens and lettuces are here. Greens of all persuasions, turnips, radishes. First of the carrots from Animal Farm and also Jerusalem artichoke. Also this season are all kinds of eggplant, okra, peppers, yellow and zucchini squash, yellow squash blossoms, butternut, acorn and other heirloom squashes, chard, bok choy, mizuna and fresh herbs, including lots of cilantro.

Fruits: Be here Dec. 3rd for River's End star fruit and other exotics! Kathy comes but once every 6 weeks or so. Reena's Organics Farm brings us sweet Marrs oranges, tangelos, tangerines and Ruby Red grapefruit, sustainably-grown, with no chemicals. Get your tropical citrus fix every week!

Nuts: Hersh of Indian Hills Farm will be bringing in pecans (this week or next).

Meats: FRESH CHICKEN now offered at the Market! Fresh, never frozen chicken is coming from right in Travis County from Barnison Farm in all types of cuts and Cornish Game hens, along with the whole frozen chickens from Providence Hill Farm. Bison, beef, pork, sausage, bacon, emu meat and oil products and eggs. Thunderheart Bison is only one of two producers in the U.S. that conduct field harvests with respect. Bison health benefits include more omega 3 than salmon and great levels of beta carotene and CLA.

PLEASE BRING CLEAN CARDBOARD EGG CARTONS TO THE MARKET; these can be reused by the smaller 'yard' egg farmers. Bring them to the farmers selling eggs--they'll gladly take them off your hands.

Dairy: READY, SET, GOat CHEESE! "Maid" in the Shade Farm--get your goat cheese fix! Also now featuring West Wind Goat Dairy too! Raw cow milk cheeses from Veldhuizen Family Farm (they are out right now).

Baked Goods: Bread pudding from Blackland Prairie Farm is new. Pies, breads, scones, brownies, cookies, granola, rolls, and kolaches. New are goat cheese cheesecakes from "Maid" in the Shade Dairy and apple turnovers from Bat Creek Farm (using their apples!).

Plants: Vegetable starts, trees, ferns, cacti, ornamentals, and herbs.

Assorted: Gazpacho, pestos, soups (TRY THE SWEET PEPPER..yum), chocolate, and preserves.

Ready-to-Eat: Breakfast and lunch fajita tacos, tamales, savory kolaches, quiches, soups, Ethiopian food, and coffee. A spread of goat cheese and a Texas French Bread baguette is a great ready to eat snack with fresh sliced sweet red pepper! (We have a fountain in the park to wash). She has a great new inventory of clothing).

REENA's ORGANICS is owned by Reena Luera, and she operates a small family farm in Weslaco. She introduced customers last week to Marrs oranges, Ruby Red grapefruit, tangelos and tangerines. She'll be at Wednesday market (5th and Comal, 4-6:30) today, and then back to Saturday market November 26th!

A spread of goat cheese and a Texas French Bread baguette is a great ready to eat snack with fresh sliced sweet red pepper! (We have a fountain in the park to wash). LOTS of rehydrating drinks, including: hibiscus tea (Nile Valley Herbs, strawberry refresher (Southside Kolaches) and water sold at the Information Booth. Coffee, hot chocolate at Texas Coffee Traders and yes!, apple cider at Bat Creek Farm.

Crafts and arts: Specially designed t-shirts, soaps, paintings, hand died/spun wool, woven shawls & socks, jewelry, soy candles, cloth purses, aprons, yoga mat holders, painted baskets and boxes, potholders, and clayworks. Much more coming this holiday season! We'll have wreaths, ornaments, gifts of all kinds that are handmade, LOCAL, and sold directly by the creator!

Services: CAFÉ AREA by the band, great for people watching and music aficionados; accupuncture this week and massage (ahhhh...) under the trees in the park.
