Meet the Farmers
April 30, 2005

Veldhuizen Family Farm is one of very few dairies in the state of Texas that sell direct to customers via the farmers' markets. Come out and support them!
Look under Fresh and New to find weekly updates for who is coming and who is not.
Here are the following farmers and growers represented at the market on regular Saturdays this spring: Animal Farm, Arnosky Family Farm (Texas Specialty Cut Flowers), Bikkurim Farm, Bradshaw Farm, Estrada Farm, Farmer Russell's Beef, Harvest Time, Kaune Line Farm, Montesino Farm, Naegelin Farm, Oasis Gardens, Ottmers Farms, Specialized Plant Sales, Taylor Farm, Tecolote Farm, The Blooming Idiots (once a month), The Herb Shack, Tres Emu Rancheros, Veldhuizen Farm, Thunderheart Bison, and Zamudio Farm. Pork, milk-fed beef and poultry will soon follow in May. Starting in May will be the returns of McCall Creek Farm, Gendron Home Grown Tomatoes, Big Foot Farm, Lindig Farm, Bee Creek Farm, Rain Lilly Farm, Caskey Orchard and others. New farms with heirloom crops and blackberries will also come in early May.
The bounty of locally grown produce is apparent at the Austin Farmers' Market with almost two dozen farmers, ranchers and growers present every Saturday, even in this earlier season. The Austin Farmers' Market represents LOCAL farmers and producers, from the Central Texas region.
Loncito's Lamb is done for the season but please call him at 361-318-6709 if you happen to go by his place in Dinero.
Let's support these local farmers on Saturdays 9 a to 1 p at 4th and Guadalupe!
Come Visit the new Austin Farmers' Market Pocket Market
Wednesdays, 4- 7 pm; starts April 27th at Plaza Saltillo (5th and Comal- just seven blocks east of the Convention Center). A lot of the same farmers are coming to this mid-week market too!
