Meet the Farmers
December 18, 2004
Tim Miller of Millberg Farm is bringing in certified organic fennel, leeks, green onions and more this Saturday. Oasis has baskets full of certified organic persimmons--ripe! The only Central Texas fruit you can get right now! Catch Hersh Kendall one last time with his organic vegetables, excellent grass-fed beef and his wife, Karen's granola.
Here are the following farmers represented at the market on regular Saturdays: Animal Farm, Arnosky Family Farm, The Garza Greens (a project of Garza High School students), Indian Hills Farm, Millberg Farm, Neagelin Farm, Ottmers Farms, Oasis Gardens, Bikkurim Farm, Veldhuizen Farm, and Thunderheart Bison.
The bounty of locally grown produce is apparent at the Austin Farmers' Market with more than a dozen farmers, ranchers and growers present every Saturday, even in this later fall season. The Austin Farmers' Market represents LOCAL farmers and producers, with ALL vendors coming from 150 miles away or less. PLEASE NOTE: Farmer appearances are written as of Tuesdays; should there be a change because of staffing or crop issues, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Loncito's Lamb is done for the season but please call him at 361-318-6709 if you happen to go by his place in Dinero. Bat Creek Farm has also been ravaged by racoons so Kim and Jacque McBride won't be coming in with their Pink Ladies (well, until next August!).
Let's support these local farmers on Saturdays 9 a to 1 p at 4th and Guadalupe!
