Newsworthy Worthiness

Sticky Toffee Pudding Company has made a claim to fame under the newly published The Fearless Critic -- Austin Restaurant Guide that features Tracy Claros' booth at the market as a "restaurant/bakery" storefront because her products are soooooooo good! She also just garnered the top nod as one of the "TEN BEST DESSERTS" in Austin from Austin Monthly (September issue). November Austin Monthly says, "45 - Cocoa Puro's Kakawa Cocoa Beans ranking on Saveur magazine's 2006 list of its top 100 favorite things from around the world. The famed beans which can be purchased at the Downtown Austin Farmers' Market..."

Jakes Natural Fine Foods got a very nice mention in the Austin Chronicle late November edition for their wonderful granola and biscottis..try the Gingerbread.

Also, Austin Monthly selected Kakawa Cocoa Beans as one of the top 100 Austin foods, Texas Monthly selected them as their top 40 Mail Order gifts, and in late November the American-Statesman put it on the front page of the Food & Life section as one of the popular award-winning Texas Hill Country foods and gift ideas. Get this highly acclaimed chocolate at the Market!

Paw Bakery was featured in theRound Rock media and she says she now has celebrated cat treats made from Alaskan salmon...meow.



We can't leave the kudos section without thanking the critics at the Austin Chronicle for naming the market, 2006 Best When Cutting the Cheese on a First Date Is OK: Austin Farmers' Market Downtown. We invite all single people to take the critic's supporting validation to heart..(see below)


"First dates are hard. You're trying to impress, but you're also working out that new hottie's likes and dislikes. So why not come off all clean-living and healthy-eating, and find out whether they're more inclined to nibble salad or scarf a steak all at the same time? Suggest a jaunt down to the Saturday Farmers' Market, and find out how he or she (or…?) likes their locally and independently produced fresh fruit, seasonal honey, organic meat, hand-picked veggies, and homemade bread. You could even pick up some fresh-cut flowers, if things are going that way. Plus, even if the date turns out to be a bust, at least you've got your groceries."



Two regulars at the Austin Farmers' Market also garnered awards in the Austin Chronicle's 2006 Best of Austin awards..Best Scents that Make Sense - South Austin People (So.A.P.); and Best Lunch Tacos - Taco Deli. Taco Deli also got the nod from food editor Pat Sharpe of Texas Monthly as one of the "must have" tacos in her list of favorites around the state. Yeah! We're clean and full.
